How the lien is filed varies from state to state. Claimants can generally file a mechanic’s lien in one of three ways – through their attorney, through Lien Line (or another similar third party service provider) who can prepare and help their clients file mechanic’s lien claims, or by preparing and filing their own mechanic’s lien claims (where permissible by state law).
